Valle di Rhêmes, where to sleep and eat in a oasis of beauty
In the Rhêmes valley, in every period of the year, you can always feel in complete peace. Passing Aosta, little after Villeneuve, you go uphill towards Introd and there Rhêmes Valley starts.
The first inhabitated centre, 1200 meters of altitude, is Rhêmes Saint Georges: quiet mountain oasis. For those who like hiking the jim equipped for free-climbing is suggested, while for those who love riding horses it will be possible to address the equestrian tourism centre. Here is possible to find an accommodation in the “Case Gran Paradiso”, that create a true Nature Village with traditional houses and chalet, all refurbished and equipped with care and mountain style. Once Rhêmes Saint George is overtaken, you arrive in Rhêmes-Notre-Dame, the less populated municipality of the Osta Valley, but also the highest one, thanks to the Bruil hamlet, with its 1723 mt of altitude. The village centre enjoys a really quiet position, in a wide meadow basin, surrounded by forests and high peaks that create a particularly fascinating setting. The perculiar element that characterizes this location is its inhabitants history, along with a territory that expresses without doubts the history of human beings on the mountains: rascard (typical wood and stone buildings), alpine pastures, culture and traditions.
In the Chanavey hamlet, you'll find the Visitors Centre dedicated in particular to bearded vulture, the vulture disappeared on our territory at the beginning of the century and reintroduced in some alpine parks through a European project, nowadays nesting in the Gran Paradiso Park. At less than 1 Km from the village centre the suggestion is to try, both for catering service and for accommodation, the “Boule de Neige Albergo Ristorante”, that enjoys also a welness centre: book your massage or let the caresses of the whirpool bubbles and the fragrance of the hay bath surround you.
