The golden eagle nests on rocky slopes, above 1400 m, undisturbed by other animals or by humans. It hunts on open round, flat or rugged ground.
The eagle has a wingspan of 190-220 cm, and the female is bigger than the male. Adults have brown-coloured plumage, while the young have big white spots at the centre of their wings and at the base of their tail. It feeds on marmots, mammals, other birds, young hoofed animals and carcasses.
The eagle nests in every valley of the park. The species has been monitored for some years. From the results of censuses carried out, we know that there are about 17 pairs of eagles living within the park area.
