Building materials are the same all over the Alpine Arc: wood and stone; however the prevalence of one over the other, and varying building techniques, give rise to different results from valley to valley. The dwellings in the Orco and Soana valleys are mainly in stone, while those in the Valle d'Aosta are more dependant on wood, as can be seen in the splendid rascard.
